Cerro Escondido Rainforest Lodge and Velo de Novia Falls

Your adventure begins with a hike along the Río Blanco and up into the hills of the Karen Mogensen Reserve, where Cerro Escondido Rainforest Lodge is nestled in a hidden valley. The lodge offers spacious rooms with warm hospitality, delicious food, and romantic guitar serenades. Hike in primary forest and swim in the pools of lovely Velo de Novia Falls.

Getting there: take the Interamerican highway about 3 hours west of San Jose and turn left at Limonal, continuing to the La Amistad bridge over the Río Tempisque. A few kilometers after the bridge, turn left on route 21 and drive about half an hour to Jicaral. There you should stop at the Ministerio de Agricultura to get directions to San Ramon de Río Blanco. From San Ramón, it is a 60-90 minute uphill hike to the lodge.

Los Campesinos Rural Inn and Waterfall Tour

Los Campesinos Reserve is located in Quebrada Arroyo, near to Rios Savegre, about 90 minutes from famous beaches of Manuel Antonio. It has the longest suspended bridge in the area, where you can walk next to a huge waterfall. Meals are cooked over firewood. You will explore the rain forest with experienced local guides and swim in pristine waterfall pools. Stay overnight at lodge or return to your hotel in Manuel Antonio or Quepos.

Getting there: drive 25 km from Quepos until you reach the town of Londres. After Londres, take a turnoff right to Los Campesinos. These last 6 km require 4WD.
